This Privacy Policy explains how the mobile application BreathPet ("App") handles information. It is published by the developer of BreathPet ("we", "us"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
By using BreathPet, you acknowledge and agree that all actions, decisions, and data entries in the App are solely your responsibility. We do not provide veterinary advice and are not responsible for any consequences resulting from your use of the App, including any decision about your animal's health, care, medication, or whether to seek veterinary attention.
BreathPet is an informational logbook that lets an owner count and record a resting or sleeping animal's breathing rate, keep that history, and produce a document to show a veterinarian. The App is not intended for diagnosis, treatment, or veterinary decision-making. It does not interpret your animal's condition, does not grade or rank the numbers you record, and does not tell you what any number means.
By using the App, you confirm that you are at least 16 years old and that you agree to this Privacy Policy and to the Terms of Use. If you do not meet this requirement, you must not use the App.
The App stores what you enter, in a database on your own device:
This information is not transmitted to us and we cannot access it. There is no account, no sign-in, and no cloud synchronisation. We operate no servers that receive your records.
The App performs no automatic collection of medical or biometric data. Every measurement is one you take and enter yourself. The App does not use the camera, the microphone, or your location.
The App uses Google Firebase Analytics to record how the App itself is used, for example:
These events never include the measured values, and never include your animal's name, breed, date of birth, weight, notes, or the contents of any free-text field. They are associated only with a randomly generated app-instance identifier created by Firebase, together with general technical information such as device model, operating system version, app version, and approximate region. Because the App has no account, this information is not linked to your name, e-mail address, or any identifier you provide.
The App uses Google Firebase Crashlytics. If the App crashes, a report containing the technical stack trace, device model, operating system version, and app version is sent so the fault can be fixed. Crash reports do not contain your records.
Apart from the above, and apart from files you deliberately export or share yourself (section 6), no data leaves your device.
The App can produce files from your own records — a backup file, an export, and a formatted report for your veterinarian. These are generated on your device and go only where you send them.
If you choose to save a backup into a folder belonging to a cloud storage service (for example Google Drive, iCloud, or Dropbox), or send a file through e-mail or a messaging app, that file is then handled by that service under its own terms and privacy policy. We never receive these files, they never pass through us, and we have no control over them once they leave the App.
Keeping your own copies is your responsibility. We are not responsible for the loss, disclosure, or corruption of any file after it leaves the App.
Reminders are local notifications generated on your device. Nothing is sent through us and nothing is scheduled on a server.
We do not guarantee the accuracy, timeliness, or delivery of notifications, because they depend on:
You remain responsible for monitoring your animal and for taking measurements. A reminder must never be relied upon as a safety mechanism.
The App displays no advertising and contains no advertising SDK. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
Some features require a paid subscription purchased through Google Play or the Apple App Store. All payments are processed by those stores. We never receive or store your payment card details, billing address, or store account credentials. The App only receives from the store whether a subscription is currently active.
The App uses the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:
These providers may process data on servers located outside your country, including in the United States. We encourage you to review their policies. We are not responsible for the practices of third-party services.
Because there is no account and no server-side copy, deletion is entirely in your hands:
Once deleted, records cannot be recovered by us — we never had them.
Analytics and crash data are retained by Firebase for a limited period in accordance with Google's retention settings and are not linked to an identity we can look up.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR (European Economic Area, United Kingdom) or the CCPA/CPRA (California), including rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, and portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
In practice: the information you care about is on your device, and you can view, edit, export, and delete it there at any time without asking us. Where we process anonymous usage and crash data, we do so on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the App working and improving it; you may object to this by contacting us or by uninstalling the App.
Because we hold no name, e-mail address, or account identifier, we are generally unable to identify you within analytics or crash data, and may therefore be unable to act on a request that requires us to locate your specific records. If you contact us, we will do what is technically possible.
We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
The App is not intended for children under 16, is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has used the App, delete the App from the device; nothing about that use is retrievable by us.
Your records are stored within the App's private storage on your device and are protected by the operating system's own protections. Their security therefore depends on your device: its lock screen, its encryption settings, whether it is rooted or jailbroken, and who has access to it.
No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. While we take reasonable measures, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
BreathPet is not a medical or veterinary device or service. It:
All information in the App is entered or produced by you and is for your own record-keeping only. Any figure the App calculates, such as an average or a trend, is simple arithmetic over the numbers you entered and nothing more.
If your animal appears to be in distress, contact a veterinarian or an emergency veterinary service immediately. Do not use the App to decide whether veterinary care is needed.

We may update this Policy from time to time. The current version is always the one published at this address, with its effective date at the top. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
